Novel begins with Regan Reilly getting married to the love of her life Jack Reilly in a week’s time. It’s a beautiful Saturday morning and she plans to go to pick up her wedding dress with her mom, novelist Nora Reilly and her best friend.
As they reach the boutique they discover that the owners are tied up and 4 wedding dresses have been stolen including hers and one has been shredded to pieces. She is told that two men barged in at middle of the night, tied them up and went off with not just the wedding dresses but also all the cash and jewelry from the locker in their bedroom. Only clue that is available is blood samples on the shredded dress and that one of the two thieves walked with a slight limp.
Regan being a private investigator decides to take up the case and help out the boutique owners. Then on the story takes some very hilarious and unexpected turns as Regan meets all the April brides whose dresses were stolen and starts investigating into the crime. Jack, Regan fiancé and the NYPD Captain, in the meanwhile is busy investigating a bank robbery case where robber strikes only when it’s raining and is very good at disguises.
The news about stolen wedding dresses makes it to national news and the thieves in a desperate attempt decide to travel all the way to Vegas from New York to sell the dresses there. Both stories keep progressing further and the reader is totally engrossed into the mystery of the stolen dresses and the bank robber. After a few chapters it is made evident as to who is the dress thief but the mystery about the robber continues only to be disclosed at the very end of the tale.
There are moments in the story when as a reader you are quite sure as to who the robber is or how the dress thieves will get caught but author manages to keep you at the edge of your seats and dishes out a totally surprising and yet a wonderful ending. Story is very written and beautiful intervenes everyone’s life into it… All an all very entertaining novel and a good read. Hilarious at times, nerve wrecking at times. But this is surely going to make you feel part of it and wanting to help Regan & Jack solve the mystery and get those beautiful dresses back.
